Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Iridium Nanoparticles Grown via Atomic Layer Deposition

Nonlinear optical phenomena enable novel photonic and optoelectronic applications. Especially, metallic nanoparticles thin films with nonlinear properties offer the potential for micro-optical system integration. For this purpose, new materials need to be continuously identified, investigated, utilized While noble-metal nanoparticles, nanostructures, of silver gold have been widely studied, iridium (Ir) ultrathin not investigated applications yet. Here, we present a combined theoretical experimental study on linear deposited via atomic layer deposition (ALD). Linear constants, such as effective refractive index extinction coefficient, were evaluated at different growth stages nanoparticle formation. Both these Ir ALD coatings calculated theoretically using Maxwell Garnett theory. The third-order susceptibility samples was experimentally z-scan technique.
